Day 17 Banff

Deciding to cook up a big camping breakfast today so we had a later than usual start. Uncle Keith had suggested a hike to Johnston Canyon so we decided to give it a try. Halfway between Banff and Lake Louise, in the midst of surrounding mountains, a trail head appears that leads us along the edge of a canyon. The hike was beautiful and the perfect time to give Jeffrey adventure, David picture opportunities and Nancy peace-of-mind with Cecilia! Mother Nature spent the last 8,000 years carving the 19 meter deep canyon for our hiking and viewing pleasure. The pictures speak for themselves …
Our first view of the river.

Check out the colour of the water.
The railing shows the walkway right along the canyon wall.

Happy hikers.

... and always a view of the mountains.
Don't miss the blue mountain peak in the background.
Interesting things everywhere we look!
We stopped for a delicious lunch back at the trail head and then went into Banff to play tourists. The very best part of wandering in and out of the shops was the time to amuse … I mean, be amused by Cecilia. She is just so incredibly adaptable, and naturally social and curious, that the afternoon was delightful.
Nighttime in the trailer is cozy with all of us cuddling in when the sun finally sets. I don’t know what it is with this family and bedtimes but when the lights go out, the silliness begins. For the last couple of nights, since Jeffrey, Nancy and Cecilia have been with us, I fall into bed in gales of laughter. Some one little thing will set us off and the madness begins. Not a bad way to end awesome days.
Always incredibly adaptable ... Cecilia found the trailer sink with a rubber shelf mat made an awesome bathtub!
